Food and dining in Tokyo

In Tokyo, you cab high quality and different kinds of food. Tokyo boasts of thousands of restaurants serving more or less every cuisine in the world.

You can also try some special local food like Nigirizushi, which is fish pressed onto rice and is popularly known around the world as "sushi."

Another delicacy of Tokyo is monjayaki, a gooey, cabbage-filled type of okonomiyaki and uses a very thin batter for sticking and caramelizing. It has its origination from the Tsukishima area of Chuo and in present day, there are many restaurants near Asakusa offering monjayaki.

Tokyo - A Small City with Great Opportunities

Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is one of the largest cities of the world. The landscape of Tokyo is varied in itself. Though Tokyo is a small city but it features hills, plateaus and mountains. Even the volcanic islands like Izu and Ogasawara are a part of the city. Tokyo has prospered with the setting up of shogunate by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1603. In 18the century, Edo (Tokyo known at that time) had grown into a huge city. Today, Tokyo is an important administrative, economic and cultural centre of Japan.

Japanese art, Ikebana is a popular art of Japan. Even the Japanese calligraphy is also well-recognized art of writing. There are various forms of traditional art and drawing which has impressed the whole world. Even the Japanese cuisine is very traditional. The food culture of Tokyo is much influenced by Edo style of cooking which has flourished for years. Today, the style of cooking food in Tokyo is characterized by its local touch.

So, though you might find Tokyo to be very small place to visit, but it offers great opportunities to discover.
